Achillea millefolium

A perennial white flower that grows wild in Ireland and it’s latin name ‘millefolium’ refers to the shape of it’s leafs – it means ‘thousand leaf’.

It’s leaves are edible and make for a great addition for any salad and it’s flowers attract numerous beneficial insects to the garden such as pollinators and predatory insects that will keep pests such as aphids in check.

One of it’s common names is ‘soldier’s woundwort’ because it has the ability to cloth blood almost instantly.

Archaeologists have found that Yarrow has associations to human kind for over 60,000 years.
