In this video we’re showing you how we plant our tiger nuts, also known as Chufa. Even though it’s a little late in the growing season to plant them out they should still multiply nicely by the end of November when the first hard frost knocks them back. The best time to plant them is from February to July, but since they are perennial they will continue growing year after year if you don’t have harvest them all, same as Jerusalem artichokes. We like to plant them in our no dig beds and also into our low maintenance woodchip mulched forest garden spaces. They can grow to 2ft / 60cm tall and are quite ornamental when planted into permanent spots. The nuts can be harvested any time during the Winter and store for over a year when dried.
Tiger nuts are available on our ONLINE SHOP year around.
