Cuttings are about 25cm long and are easy to root (check video below). We always sell at least 2 cuttings to give you a good chance of success. Freshly harvested unrooted cuttings. With the American elder you will get flowers from the second year once trees are established. Great for cordials and country wines.
The elder is a well known hedgerow tree prized for it’s flowers in early summer and it’s berries in autumn, both ideal for making cordials, country wines, teas and cakes. Bare root trees are about 1foot / 30cm tall and 1 year old. Quick growing and reliable producer. The Birdland variety is from our own cottage gardens and bares particularly large clusters of flowers and berries similar to the commercial variety Haschberg.
