In this video we take you along to one of our canning sessions. Canning can save you money and help you preserve some of those precious summer and autumn harvests for the colder months of the year. Canning food was common practice not that long ago before the invention of refrigeration. Water bath canning is great, but pressure canning is better because it allows you to raise the temperature of your jars to more than 100 degrees Celcius, in fact to 116C. This helps to preserve canned foods and make them storeable for a very long time and it frees up some of your freezer space as well. We have a Homesteading workshop and also a Canning & Preserving Workshop coming up.
